From investment banking, the Group branched out into equity investment in which a project is undertaken with a different group or individual as a joint venture. This was how CHMI Products, Inc., a pharmaceutical distribution firm was conceived. One of the biggest clients of the Company was Drugmakers' Laboratories, Inc., the second largest local drug manufacturer, whose financial requirements for expansion were syndicated by the Company. CHMI Products started in 1986. It distributes its own brand of pharmaceutical products through medical representatives and franchised distributors. At present, it is distributing about 25 pharmaceutical product lines all over the Philippines.
